ABSTRACT

This study summarized and analyzed the current acne-relieving Chinese medicinal health products and Chinese patent medicines, aiming at providing references for the formulation and development of acne-relieving health products. The information on acne-relieving health products published by the Department of Special Food Safety Supervision and Management, the State Administration for Market Regulation( SAMR) was retrieved, and the Chinese patent medicines on DRUGDATAEXPY were searched. Microsoft Excel and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Support System V2. 5( TCMISS) were employed to statistically analyze the characteristics of formulations. Forty-three acne-relieving health products were obtained, including 40 ones containing Chinese herbal medicines. Six Chinese herbal medicines showed a usage frequency ≥8,with 61 times in use totally, including Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma( 13),Lonicerae Japonicae Flos( 12),Taraxaci Herba( 11),ALOE( 9),Carthami Flos( 8),and Rhei Radix et Rhizoma( 8). A total of 29 Chinese patent medicines with similar efficacy were collected in DRUGDATAEXPY. Nine Chinese herbal medicines showed a usage frequency ≥6,with 63 times in use, including Rhei Radix et Rhizoma( 10),Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma( 8),Scutellariae Radix( 8),Lonicerae Japonicae Flos( 7),Angelicae Sinensis Radix( 6),Paeoniae Radix Rubra( 6),Astragali Radix( 6),Paeoniae Radix Alba( 6),and Gardeniae Fructus( 6). Through unsupervised hierarchical entropy-based clustering of the above-mentioned Chinese medicinal health products and Chinese patent medicines, five and three new formulas were obtained, respectively. The selection of Chinese herbal medicines was consistent with the principles of traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) theories in relieving acne,i. e.,dispelling exterior wind, ventilating lungs, clearing heat, dissipating mass, promoting diuresis, relaxing bowels, removing toxin, activating blood, resolving stasis, eliminating phlegm, and regulating Qi. According to the " lung governing skin and body hair" and " interior-exterior relationship between lung and large intestine" in TCM theories, the idea that acne could be treated by relieving constipation was proposed, which provided new methods and references for the research and development of Chinese medicinal health products.

ABSTRACT

A 50-year-old male, truck driver, met with an accident with blunt steering wheel injury to the abdomen with no external marks ofinjury over the abdominal wall. He had severe abdominal pain with tossing up in bed. As the abdomen showed no external marksof injuries, strikingly, abdominal palpatory findings were prominent with severe tenderness in the left side umbilical and pelvicregions. He had consumed heavy food with liquids within an hour before the accident. He collided with another stationary lorry;thus, he received massive blow to his abdomen with the steering wheel. He displayed the signs of hemorrhagic shock on arrivalto the emergency care. Computed tomography scan confirmed moderate hemoperitoneum with multiple bowel perforations. Onexploratory laparotomy, multiple jejunal and ileal loops were found completely avulsed from the base of the mesentery, makingthem completely devascularized along with dismembered descending colon from the sigmoid. Resection of nonviable smallbowels and end-to-end jejunoileal anastomosis was done. Colocolic anastomosis was performed after adequate descendingcolon mobilization with protective loop ileostomy in the right lower quadrant. The patient had developed wound infection; hence,he was put on daily dressing. Gradually, the patient improved and was discharged with functioning ileostomy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish an HPLC method for simultaneous determination of Isoquercitrin and astragalin in Moringa oleifera leaves prescription. Methods By using HPLC method with Cosmosil-C18 column (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 μm) and the column temperature was 40 degrees Celsius, the mobile phase contains a 0.1%phosphoric acid in water(A) and acetonitrile(B), the detection wavelength was set at 350nm by UV detector and the flow rate was 1.3 ml/min. Results The Isoquercitrin and astragalin was better separated in 30 minutes, and Isoquercitrin had a good linear correlation at the range of 0.24-4.73 μg, while astragalin was 0.11-2.19 μg, the average spiked recoveries of isoquercetin and astragalin were 99.09% (RSD=0.60%) and 99.08% (RSD=1.37%), respectively. Conclusions The proposed method is simple, accurate, and repeatable and can be used for quality control as well as a powerful tool to evaluate the processing of Moringa oleifera leaves. It can provide the reference basis and data support for the determination of content of Moringa oleifera health products.

ABSTRACT

Background: As the laparoscopic management in bowel surgeries of abdomen grows as a tool in the armamentarium of the acute care surgeon, it is critical that outcomes are tracked to aid surgeons in making evidence-based decisions with regards to management of their patients. Aim: To study the feasibility of laparoscopy as a diagnostic modality and to assess the feasibility of laparoscopic intervention in various bowel pathologies in comparison to open surgery. To analyse the outcomes of laparoscopic surgery in compared to those treated by open surgery. Material and methods: A total 110 cases (Females 45% and Male 55%) of different Intestinal Pathologies from November 2013 to November 2015 were considered. For laparoscopy 80 Therapeutic cases and 30 diagnostic cases were included. All the cases were undergone for routine blood and urine investigation, ECG, X-ray, USG abdomen and Barium meal. Results: The commonest intestinal pathology in our study was acute Appendicitis (23.6%). Majority of the cases were seen in the age group of 26-40 years (40%). The mean operative time for laparoscopic appendectomy was 23 minutes and 25 minutes in open approach. Conclusion: Laparoscopy is safe and effective in the treatment of Bowels of abdomen. Tertiary centers with adequate minimally invasive skills should establish laparoscopy as the primary surgical technique in the treatment of this condition.

ABSTRACT

Objective To find out the accurate resonance frequencies and vibration characteristics of intestine, lung, kidney, stomach, heart and liver of rat and rabbit in low frequency and to provide basic data for the study of organs' resonance injury and reaction. Methods Eight rats and eight rabbits were anaesthetized with 1.5% sodium pentobarbital and acceleration sensor was fixed to the surface of their bowels. The rats were fastened on their back on the veneer hung horizontally by rubber band. The veneer was hammered upward from the down side, and the biggest value of frequency spectrum was considered the resonance frequency.Rabbits were fastened on their back on vibration platform and 2 mm amplitude vibration was given with the sweeping-frequency from 2 Hz to 50 Hz.The bowels amplitudes on each frequency point were measured. The frequency corresponding to the biggest amplitude was considered the resonance frequency. Results The resonance frequencies of rat intestine, lung, kidney, stomach, heart and liver were respectively 3.8,3.2,6.6,7.0,4,6 and 3.0 Hz within frequency interval of 0 Hz to 20 Hz.The resonance frequencies of rabbit intestine, lung, kidney, stomach, heart and liver were respectively 6.0,5.0,7.0,8.0,6.0 and 7.0 Hz within frequency interval of 2 Hz to 50 Hz.The vibration amplitude of lung was the biggest at the resonance frequency. The resonance frequencies of both rat and rabbit bowels showed no statistical correlations to body weights, bowel mass and bowel volumes. Conclusion Bowel resonance frequencies of rat and that of rabbit are evidently statistical different except for that of kidney. The resonance frequency values of rabbit bowels are closer to that of dog and monkey than to that of rat. Thus the resonance injury characteristic of rabbit bowels can be the research basis for dog, monkey, and even human bowels resonance injury.

ABSTRACT

Intraabdominal hypertension is defined as the pressure increase within the abdominal cavity above 10 cm. H2O, and is classified into 4 degrees according to the severity: I, 10 - 15 cm. H2O; II, 16 - 25 cm. H2O; III, 26 - 35 cm. H2O; and IV, greater than 35 cm. H2O. The interest in the IP (Intraabdominal Pressure) and its measurements began in the last half of the 19th. century. In the review of the literature it was found that, since the beginning of the century, in U.S.A. IP was first measured, until a standardized method was proposed to measure it, with the help of a Foley's probe, transvesically, by the half of the century. As multiple factors were determined that increase IP, the causes that trigger system pathological changes were known, as well as the emergence of clinical manifestations and abdominal compartment syndrome of degree III and IV, which allowed to take a less risky and earlier surgical stand.
